About Easy Hair Edit

Independent, free, brand-neutral.

Easy Hair Edit exists because most hair color mistakes are arithmetic mistakes. The wrong developer ratio, too little natural base for the gray, a toner chosen for the level the hair should have been at rather than the one it is at. None of that needs a new product. It needs the numbers done properly, once, before the bowl is mixed.

What the site is

A set of single-purpose calculators for hair color. Each one takes what you can observe on the head, applies the rule a colorist would apply, and shows the result together with the reasoning. The pages are static and the math runs in your browser, which is why they load quickly and never ask you to sign up.

Where the formulas come from

From standard colorimetry practice as taught in cosmetology programs and in professional brand education: the level system and its underlying pigments, developer volumes and what each one can lift, the gray percentage rules for natural series, demi versus permanent processing windows, and the porosity adjustments every experienced colorist makes by feel. We write those rules down as code so they are applied the same way every time.

Brands differ. Where a rule is brand-specific, such as a mixing ratio or a maximum processing time, the tool asks you to choose the ratio or points you to the manufacturer's instructions rather than guessing.

How tools are reviewed

Before a tool goes live, its outputs are compared against worked examples from brand technical guides and checked by working colorists. Each tool page shows the date it was last reviewed. If a stylist tells us a result is wrong for a case they see in the chair, we look at it and fix the rule, not just the example.

Where AI is used, and where it is not

The calculators are deterministic. The same inputs always give the same answer, and no AI model sits between your inputs and the result. We do use AI-assisted tools when drafting and editing the written guides, and every guide is then reviewed by a person before publishing. Illustrations are created with design tools and, occasionally, AI image generation; none are presented as photographs of real results.

Money

The site is free to use. It may carry advertising and affiliate links to products in the future, and where it does, that will be disclosed on the page. No tool result is influenced by a brand, an advertiser or a product link.
